Hi, my name is Stormy Brandt, and I am a Companion Animal Death Doula. As a volunteer in our community with Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County providing in-home respite care for our human community, and a former volunteer/ranch manager/radio personality for a local rescue, I realized a need in our community.  The human-animal bond is proven to be a bond that provides part of a healthy life, mentally and physically, for both the companion animal and the human. This bond can sometimes be stronger than that of another human. Often fear and guilt surround the dying and death of a companion animal, with questions unanswered, unintentional prolonging and hesitation. As a University of Vermont and Fear Free certified doula, â€‹I provide guilt free support, honoring the human-animal connection, the companion animal, the humans and the veterinarian profession. Providing compassionate in-home non-medical respite care, quality of life assessments, advance directive planning, vigil, grief and bereavement support, I bring a supportive arm and empathetic ear as we release the fear of death and dying.
